And then there was Sunday

Sunday we made our way to the East Side Showdown with RJ and Theo at the American Legion Post 72 in Cinci.  Even Steve V came out for the action, been a little while since we had seen Mr. V.  Glad to see ya back at it Bogart.

The drinks were cold, the food was hot, and the competition was tough.  Well, some of the competition was tough anyway. The ones that weren’t, made sure to keep us all highly entertained through out the day.  Kevin man, your beers in the other hand.

Our man Corky M came down for the doubles from his hometown of Maysville, we hadn’t seen the Cowboy since VA Beach.  I had forgotten what sexy beasts he and I were on the coasts of VA!

Heath C, was in attendance, along with Mike Schaffer Sr and JR, Nikki, Gary F, Kevin P, Jack Stagge, Dewey, Sean Short, Darren Hill, Brandon Hill, Sherri E, Ricky T, Nikki T, and a whole bunch of others I’m ticking off and leaving out here in this sentence!  I’m sorry mane!!! I can’t remember em all!!!

In the doubles, D and I would go undefeated up until the final winners bracket game against Stagge and Kevin P.  But it was no easy road to there.  Mike JR and his partner who had just knocked off Steve V and Dewey in a major upset, had us down 14 – 0 before we knew what hit us. But we managed to pull out of the nose dive we were in to take the W, followed by another tough battle with Rick Suttle and his partner as Rick heated up near the end with 10 in a row on me.  But as always, D was clutch and smacked down enough points on his partner to hit 21 before Rick could dump another 4 in the hole on me.  But Kevin’s hot hand proved to be too much as he began to 4 bag like a bandit on D, and I was unable to throw enough points up against Stagge to cover the margin Kevin was opening on us.  Blame it on the Stagge lights.  Or maybe the lack of?

Our final loss would come against the Cowboy’s from Maysville, as they defeated us to move on to the championship match against Kevin and Stagge.  Kevin P however maintained his hot streak, and he and Stagge walked away with 1st.  Cowboy Corky’s team 2nd, and D and I third.  Hey! I won some money!!!  Yeehaw!!!

In the singles, Kevin continued to dominate most of the day, and was setting in the winners bracket waiting on Bobo, Sean S and Darren to battle it out in the losers bracket to see who he would face.  Bobo put up a tough fight most of the day, but fell a little short taking 4th.  Sean Short did just a tad better grabbing 3rd.  Darren Hill however, would remind us all why we play this crazy game again again, as he battled his way back through the losers bracket, with several close games along the way, and not only popped back out for a shot at the title, but would go on to double dip the hot handed Kevin P,  and walk away as Numero Uno in the singles for the day.  Way to go Darren!

Dang… what a weekend.  That’s how they all should be spent mane!
