Not even a cold cloudy day can put a damper on things when the Cult wants to come out to play. Have Bailey Bug tie your toboggan on tight, wrap your arm around a big ole fuzzy cat, or sip on some hot black coffee, what ever it takes to get you warmed up. Read More

I am getting a little better at this…

Oh, not that I expect my skills to grow to the degree of the guys I was playing tonight. But here, at the Monday Night Cornhole Club, I was actually seeing my level of skill growing enou...gh to throw a few good ones. The problem is, when you are throwing against the world's best, you have nowhere to go but down. Read More

The A B C 's of Corn Hole

Updated Wednesday, October 07, 2009 at 8:07 AM

When I first began throwing every Thursday at Buns, like most any weekly gathering of holers, we always had a great time and usually played a blind draw to keep things fair. Attendance never seemed to grow much, little spikes here and there, but it was great to see our friends and catch up on what happened that week and throw some bags. Sometimes the topic would land on why we didn’t have more people showing up since we played at a local restaurant-carry out and anyone was welcome, and we would all like to see a bigger figure in the money pot, as well as get more folks to come out to help the owner since he let us gather at his place each week... New Boards and Bags, Good Times

Updated Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 2:37 PM

I recently got some Tournament Series cornhole boards and bags from the American Cornhole Organization. Yes, I have some connections. And lately, cornhole has been very popular in the streets of the Hurst/Euless/Bedford area in Texas. So far, mind you, it's just been my father-in-law and I playing, but that's not the point (and I did exaggerate a bit). What's been appealing is the camaraderie, the appeal of the shiny new boards, and knowing that life isn't all the bad when playing cornhole. Read More

Athens County Fair

Updated Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 1:49 PM

So your setting at the Athens County fair, waiting on the dudes who are suppose to be running the tourney to show up. It’s posted that it starts at 7pm. Check your watch it’s 7:05. No Boards, no bags, no dudes still. Three or four teams have already walked off grumbling and talking to themselves, and there’s 11 or 12 more standing there looking about as confused as you are on what’s going on exactly. The director agrees to try the dudes again one last time from his cell. No answer. And he doesn’t look too concerned himself. Read More
