Jack Stagge Makes Cornhole History

It was a beautiful day in downtown Cincinnati – perfect weather for the ACO Monster World Cornhole Championship. And it was a massive competition for the crown, spearheaded by the American Cornhole Organization. It was also a beautiful day for cornhole history to be made: Jack Stagge, a southpaw from Lynchburg, Ohio, took home the gold to win it all. Not only did he win, he made history by taking down three-year cornhole champion, Matt Guy, in the semi-finals and then Steve Vanderver, ranked No. 2, in the final bout.

Dangers in the Field

Lawn games are meant for large groups of family and friends, and of the options: bocce, horseshoes or lawn darts, cornhole is by far the safest. Players don't wield two pound, hard resin balls, or throw metal objects at five to 10 miles per hour, or fling twelve-inch long needles into the air. Instead, a one-pound bag of corn is tossed onto an inclined board. However, in spite of the seemingly harmless nature of the game, certain dangers do lurk in the field.
